Altrusa is an international non-profit organization dedicated to making communities stronger through leadership, partnership, and service.

Roseburg Altrusans want to make our community an even better place to live. Every year, we dive into a mix of service projects, literacy initiatives, fundraising events, and international work. It's all about making a difference in big and small ways—while having a blast along the way! Altrusans experience personal growth opportunities and develop leadership skills. We enjoy the satisfaction of knowing our efforts are valued by the Douglas County communities we help.

We are always looking for volunteers. Our members come from all kinds of backgrounds and careers, but we all have one thing in common: a passion for giving back to our community. It’s not just about service—it’s about having fun, building friendships, and getting that feel-good satisfaction from making a real impact together.

2025 SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS

On April 24th, five local students were each awarded a $1,500 scholarship to the college of their choice.

On June 19th, Steve Malone presented two students from Umpqua Community College with a Joy Malone Memorial Scholarship of $1,600 towards their education. Steve Malone donated the scholarships to honor his late wife, Joy. Joy was an elementary school teacher for 36 years in Roseburg, and she was a very active member of Altrusa for over 20 years. She believed in education and had a passion for literacy and the Battle of the Books. Both of the scholarship recipients are in their second year at UCC and are majoring in Education with the goal of becoming teachers.
